Thé glacé- Aphrodite

With the arrival of warmer days, there's nothing quite like homemade iced tea to refresh yourself while indulging. Whether fruity, floral, or spicy, iced tea can be endlessly customized. In this article, Les Thés Duval reveals its tips for making a delicious and natural iced tea, without added sugars or artificial flavors.

🍹 Why make your own iced tea?

Making your own iced tea has many advantages:

  • 🌿 You choose the quality of the tea

  • ❄️ It's healthier: no preservatives or hidden sugars

  • 💸 It's economical

  • 😋 You can customize the flavors to your liking

🧯 Method 1: Hot infusion + cooling

This is the fastest method.

👉 Steps:

  1. Heat water to the correct temperature according to the type of tea (e.g., 80°C for green tea).

  2. Infuse your tea 1.5 to 2 times more concentrated than for a hot version.

  3. Steep for the recommended time (be careful of bitterness if you exceed it).

  4. Add ice cubes to stop the infusion and cool it quickly.

  5. Let it chill for at least 1 hour.

✅ Duval's tip: add a few pieces of fresh fruit (peach, pineapple, lemon) or herbs (mint, basil) for even more freshness.

🧊 Method 2: Cold infusion (cold brew)

Ideal for a smooth drink, without bitterness.

👉 Steps:

  1. Place 10 to 12g of tea (or 2 tablespoons) in 1L of cold water.

  2. Let it infuse in the refrigerator for 6 to 12 hours depending on the tea.

  3. Filter, serve with ice cubes, and it's ready!

🔎 Good to know:

  • Fruit infusions like our Hot Mango or Passion Mango are perfect for cold brew.

  • This method also works very well for rooibos, which is caffeine-free and ideal for the whole family.

📌 Our tips for a successful iced tea

  • Always use quality water (filtered or low in minerals).

  • Choose whole leaves or premium blends for an authentic taste.

  • Don't sweeten when hot: let your fruits do the work 🍓
